Since we held our first coat drive back in 2006, Alpine Shop customers have donated over 16,000 coats to help keep our communities warm. This year, we’re asking for your help, once again, in bringing in at least a thousand more as Alpine Shop kicks off its 14th annual One Warm Coat Drive on Friday, November 15, 2019 at all Alpine Shop locations in Missouri and at The Pathfinder in Manhattan, Kansas.
From Friday, Nov. 15 through Wednesday, Nov. 27, we’ll accept clean, gently-used coats, jackets and sweaters at each and every Alpine Shop location.
• Just for bringing in a garment, we’ll give you a $25 off coupon for your next full-price purchase of $125 or more at any Alpine Shop store. (Some exclusions apply. See a sales associate for details.)
• Plus, we’re also giving away four $250 Alpine Shop Gift Cards – one for each of our stores. For each and every coat or sweater you donate, you get one entry into that drawing. Here’s the deal, though… we only draw the gift cards when we reach our goal of 1000 total coats donated across all of our stores. And each Alpine Shop location must collect at least 100 coats to be eligible to give away a gift card. So, help your local Alpine Shop out!
NOTE: Alpine Shop will only give away one coupon to each customer during the coat drive no matter how many different coats you donate. However, each item donated will still earn one entry into the gift card drawing.

It helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute the coats free to people in need. More than one million coats have been provided to those in need at no cost since its inception in 1992.
What began in 1973 as a small climbing shop in Webster Groves, Missouri, now serves almost every type of outdoor enthusiast from backpackers, hikers, campers, paddlers, and cyclists, to snowboarders, skiers and adventure racers. With four family-owned locations across Missouri and Kansas, Alpine Shop was named the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance National Retailer of the Year in 2019.

Since our parent company, Alpine Shop, held its first coat drive back in 2006, Pathfinder and Alpine Shop customers have donated over 16,000 coats to help keep our communities warm. This year, we’re asking for your help, once again, in bringing in at least a thousand more as The Pathfinder kicks off the 2019 One Warm Coat Drive on Friday, November 15, 2019 along with our family of Alpine Shop locations in Missouri.

Alpine Shop’s Alex Kuntzman met with KSDK News Meteorologist Jessica Quick on Monday, January 28 to discuss the best way to dress for being outside during cold weather.
The most important thing to remember is that there is very little difference between dressing for 30 degree temperatures and 0 degree temps. It’s all about working with layers to make sure you are prepared for multiple situations.
If you are going to be active outside – continuous walking/running, skiing, snowboarding, lifting items, shoveling, etc. – then the number one reason you may get cold is your own sweat. If you’re going to be exposed to the cold for a significant amount of time when you will not be sedentary, then we need to take extra precautions to make sure your body has enough insulation around it to stay warm. Either way, it all starts with layering.
The same things go for your hands, your feet and your head. Many of Alpine Shop’s selection of gloves are designed with an insulation sleeve and a waterproof shell. Glove liners can be combined with these in extreme temperatures. For your feet, we recommend that the shoes or boot you wear contain insulation themselves so you can use socks that will do a better job of moving moisture away from your feet. On your head, we recommend balaclavas to provide the most cover, if needed.

From Saturday, Nov. 10 through Wednesday, Nov. 21, we’ll accept clean, gently-used coats, jackets and sweaters at each and every Alpine Shop location.

4. Snap a photo of your new favorite Alpine Shop outfit inside one of our stores.
5. Post your photo–or photos if you can’t choose just one–to our facebook page and…
6. Tag yourself in the photo. (We have to have some way of contacting you, you know?!)
We’ll select a random winner on Monday, Sept. 30 from all of the photos and give that lucky person $350 towards the outfit they were wearing in their photo. What makes up an outfit? The clothes, jackets, footwear, accessories and, heck, we’re an outdoor store, so anything else you can grab in our store and put in the photo with you. But the $350 is only good towards whatever you have in the photo with you.
