Alpine Shop Kirkwood

As we head closer to Thanksgiving, our home town of St. Louis has reinstated a Stay at Home Order to combat the COVID-19 virus. While all of our stores remain open, it is a reminder of just how unpredictable everything has become.

Earlier this year, our area parks, waterways and roadways suddenly saw huge increases in hikers, paddlers and cyclists as the country shut down the first time. As we were able to finally re-open our stores, our inventory of boats and bikes quickly disappeared. Unfortunately, many of the manufacturers of those products were also shut down for months at a time, meaning both our current and future inventory is limited.

So, here’s where we stand right now…

We have a seen a slow trickle of boats and bikes into our warehouse over the past month, but nowhere near what we would like to have on hand. If you’re considering giving or getting a bike or boat this holiday season, please act quickly and understand that our current inventory can change at any time.

The snow industry (featured in our Kirkwood location) has (thankfully) delivered much of what we ordered, but if demand remains as high as the last month would indicate, we will once again experience inventory issues in skis and snowboards before Christmas, as well.

Basically, this is just a long way of saying we recommend you grab the gear you’re looking for this holiday season at your earliest convenience.

So, here are some options for you:

  • If you’re shopping on-line, please plan ahead to avoid any unnecessary shipping costs or delays.
  • If you’re interested in scheduling concierge services with a single member of our staff at any of our stores, please sign up for our Personal Shopping Appointment using the form below. We can hand-pick items we think will work best for you and have them prepared for you as you walk into the store.
  • You can also make a reservation for ski or snowboard boot fittings. These reservations mean you won’t have to wait any longer than necessary to get the gear you need. (Plan on around 90 minutes for a complete boot fit for skis. Snowboard boots don’t normally take quite as long.)
  • We are also still offering curbside pickup throughout the holidays if you feel safer staying in your vehicle.

We Honor Our Veterans – Today and Every Day

On this Veterans Day, we honor the brave men and women who have risked their lives to protect our freedoms.

As a retailer owned by a veteran, Alpine Shop is keenly aware of the significance of November 11. We’re also aware that the sacrifices that these men and women have given so that we may have our freedoms deserve to be honored every day, not just once a year. To those of you who have served, we say “Thank You.” Thank you for your service and thank you for continuing to serve your country.

When you purchase a Glennon Card – either at Alpine Shop, on on-line at www.glennoncard.org, 100% of your money benefits the kids cared for by SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. The Faces Behind the Masks – Simon Hile

We know the shopping experience is a little different when you can’t see our faces (and smiles), so we are going to start showing you the faces behind the masks through our social media pages!

Today the man behind the mask is Simon!

Simon is a Camp and Paddle Outfitter at the Kirkwood store and if you’ve ever met him you probably already know about his affinity for pizza and hot sauce! When he’s not shopping for new hot sauces to try, Simon spends most of his free time paddling and traveling. With only two more to go, Simon is creeping up on his bucket list goal to step foot on all 7 continents!

Alpine Shop Wins Two 2020 A-List Awards

St. Louis Magazine announced their A-List Readers’ Choice Awards on Saturday, June 20 and St. Louis-based Alpine Shop has, again, won two awards.

Thank You, St. Louis for voting Alpine Shop Best Outdoor Store and Best Sporting Goods Store in St. Louis Magazine’s A-List Reader’s Choice Awards!

Alpine Shop won for both Best Outdoor Store as well as Best Sporting Goods, beating out brands like REI, Bass Pro Shops, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Big River Running.

This is the second consecutive year that Alpine Shop has earned two A-List Awards, and the second consecutive year winning Best Outdoor Store. In 2019, the store also won awards for Best Activewear and was a finalist for Best Bike Shop.

CURBSIDE PICKUP WILL BE AVAILABLE STARTING MONDAY, MAY 18 AT OUR KIRKWOOD STORE!

Here’s how it works:

1. Browse our inventory on alpineshop.com

2. Place your order online and select “Kirkwood Curbside Pickup” during the checkout process, or call (314) 962-7715 to place an order over the phone.

3. An outfitter will call you to confirm when your order is ready for pickup.

4. Let us know when you arrive curbside (near front entrance).

5. An Outfitter will bring your items out to you for contact-less service.

Off you go with your awesome new gear!

Alpine Shop Demo Boats for Sale

For a limited time, Alpine Shop is offering up most of our demo and blem fleet for public purchase. These boats have been used in our classes in the past, or arrived at our store with blemishes that made them un-sellable at normal retail prices.

If you are interested in taking advantage of some good deals, please click here to see the complete list of boats available. Once you see a boat that interests you, call the Kirkwood Alpine Shop at (314) 962-7715 and tell them you would like to purchase one of our demo boats. An experienced outfitter will work with you to make sure the boat meets your needs and confirm that we still have the boat on hand.

These boats are first come-first served and we do not make any guarantees of availability. We will update the list as often as we can, but we will not be making those updates in real time.
